MORRISON, Colo. (KDVR) - Hot days are coming after plenty of wet weather, and now the thriving vegetation can become a fire danger."That means that the fuels have grown very rapidly, but in just a few days of hot, dry and windy weather, we can see those conditions change very, very quickly," Inter-Canyon Fire Battalion Chief Daniel Hatlestad said. How are firefighters containing the Spring Creek wildfire? All the green vegetation that is thriving after a wet spring can go brown and crispy, according to Hatlestad. While fire danger might not be high now, he is reminding folks to literally not play with fire."Things like their charcoal grill or any activities outdoors: a chainsaw, an ATV, that can start a fire very rapidly," Hatlestad said. It's an important reminder, not just for the safety of vulnerable communities, but for the people who keep us safe when disaster strikes."Firefighters on the line burn 6,000 to 8,000 calories a day and require a tremendous amount of fluids to maint...

LONDON — What does a British king have in common with the son of a car salesman from Scranton, Pennsylvania? Quite a lot, it turns out. When U.S. President Joe Biden arrives at Windsor Castle on Monday he will renew an acquaintance with King Charles III which stretches back decades.Biden has made a point of stopping off in Britain on his way to this week’s NATO summit in Lithuania to fulfill a first bilateral reception with Charles since he ascended the throne, alongside talks with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in Downing Street. The president missed the king’s coronation in May, where the U.S. was represented by First Lady Jill Biden, and chose not to visit Great Britain during his trip to Ireland and Northern Ireland in April.Biden and Charles come from wildly different backgrounds but are of a similar generation — the king is six years Biden’s junior — and share a strong commitment to tackling climate change, as well as a deeply-held love of Ireland and Irish culture.
