Authorities evacuated a building along Smith Ranch Road in San Rafael on Tuesday to investigate a suspicious package that turned out to be 20 pounds of rotting fruit, police said.The package was delivered at 10 a.m. A malodor akin to methane or rotten eggs aroused suspicions of hazardous contents, the San Rafael Police Department said.
