MENDON, Mo. - The National Transportation Safety Board has released its final report Wednesday on a deadly Amtrak train crash in Mendon, Missouri. In June 2022, four people were killed and over 140 people were injured when an Amtrak train hit a dump truck at an uncontrolled railroad crossing, causing both locomotives and all eight passenger railcars to derail. People living in the area said they’d complained about the crossing for years. There's only a stop sign and a railroad crossing sign, no crossing arms, warning lights or bells. Residents said it was steep and difficult to see if a train was coming until it was too late. The NTSB started investigating the day after the crash, inspecting the crossing's design, the railcar's design, survival factors and data from the train's event recorder. A bad dream’: Effects of Amtrak derailment still echoing in Missouri town In the agency's final report, the NTSB determined the probable cause of the crash was the truck driv...Missouri changing up auto sales tax

MISSOURI — The process to buy a car in Missouri will be changing later this month. When you get a new vehicle, you start paying the sales tax on the purchase at the dealership. Right now, you have to make a trip to the Department of Revenue to pay for the sales tax separately. State Representative Lane Roberts said it's important to streamline the process for drivers."Why it's necessary for someone to buy a car, and then have to make a trip to do a separate transaction to pay a separate fee seems like an unnecessary burden on the buyer. So what this bill does is it makes it a single transaction," said Roberts. The change is part of Senate Bill 389 and makes Missouri the 48th state to require dealerships to collect the sales tax when a vehicle is sold. It takes effect on August 28th.Former “Bachelorette” from Denver, Gabby Windey, comes out as queer
