AUSTIN (Nexstar) -- Tears streamed together with sweat as Tona Naranjo stepped inside a mock prison cell under the record-hot Texas sun. Sending prayers up to her son, she imagined his final moments spent inside bare walls trapping unbearable heat."Jon Anthony Southards, I'm doing this for you, son... I need to know exactly what my son faced in his last moments," she said. "No human being deserves this."Her son Jon Anthony was found unresponsive in his cell at TDCJ's Estelle Unit near Huntsville on June 28. He died suddenly at 36 years old. According to the Texas Attorney General's custodial death report, the cause of death is pending autopsy results.Naranjo and dozens of other advocates protesting the dangerous heat in TDCJ prisons believe air conditioning could have prevented Southards' death. They are advocating for temperature regulation to keep cells between 65 and 85 degrees. As Texas experiences an oppressive heat wave, 70% of TDCJ facilities do not have air conditioning ...Loons sign young English defender Ethan Bristow

He’s played 46 games in League Two last year, and so he’s used to tough physical football and he excelled. He’s not afraid of the physical contact in the game, but he also has a good footballing mind and sees the game well,” Loons manager Adrian Heath said in a statement. “The pleasing thing for us is he had a couple of options to go to the Championship (English second division) and the minute we spoke to him he had set his heart on coming to Minnesota. It bodes well for the future and we are sure that over the course of the next few years we have added a tremendous p...St. Paul: Some West 7th businesses are resisting downtown improvement district

In the past month or so, they’ve spotted three more apparent overdoses on the nearby sidewalk. So when a business coalition invited Ingram to sign a petition in favor of expanding an existing Downtown Improvement District down West Seventh Street, Ingram declined.
